AAH Foundation Fellowships

J Arman Burgun Fellowship | To open Summer 2017

This fellowship is in honor of J. Armand Burgun, FAIA, FACHA, a true pioneer of the Facilities Guidelines Institute, “in grateful acknowledgement of his 50 years of extraordinary leadership, dedication and vision in the development and use of many generations of this document.” Fellowship award(s) range from $10,000—$20,000 and go to students and young professionals who demonstrate a strong interest in advancing the knowledge, application and participation of the Facilities Guidelines Institute.

Burgun Fellows App 2017-2018

 

Griffin/McKahan/Zilm (GMZ) Graduate Fellowship in Health Facility Planning and Design | To open February 2018

This fellowship has been established by three leaders in healthcare planning through the Academy of Architecture for Health Foundation Legends fund to encourage research into healthcare programming and planning. Fellowship award(s) range from $2,000—$7,500.

Goals:
• To encourage research related to the programming and planning healthcare facilities
• To attract talented young architects and students to this field
• To advance the knowledge of planning and design for healthcare environments
• To better understand the dynamics of the team environment and what makes successful project delivery teams

GMZ Fellows Application 2017

 

The George J. Mann, AIA Travel Prize | Applications will be accepted through September 1, 2017 | Recipient prize amount is $4000.

This travel prize has been established in honor of George J. Mann, AIA, Ronald L. Skaggs, FAIA Endowed professor in health facilities design at Texas A&M, to support  travel expenses for students pursuing a healthcare architecture education. Recipients will be announcened at the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health Update HCD Conference- Orlando- November 13, 2017.

Herman Miller Healthcare Scholarship | Accepting applications until August 1, 2017

Herman Miller Healthcare sponsors up to eight emerging professionals seeking licensure to attend the HealthcareDesign Expo and Conference, the fall conference of the Center for Health Design/AIA Academy of Architecture for Health. Each selected recipient will receive reimbursement to cover registration fees, air travel, and hotel room costs.

The conference will be held at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, FL on November 11-14, 2017

Scholarship candidates should electronically submit all materials to aah@aia.org to be received by the AIA by Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

Healthcare Design’s Best Under 40 (U40) | The 2017 deadline has now passed. It will re-open in February 2018.

The U40 List is nomination oriented recognition to celebrate individuals making a significant contribution to the advancement of health facilities design. Each year up to two individuals will be selected to have their names added to the distinguished U40 List. The U40 List recipients will receive a $1000 travel stipend to attend the Summer Leadership Summit in Chicago in July.

Nominate an individual making a significant impact on healthcare design who will be under 40 years of age on January 30, 2017 and has worked on healthcare related projects for at least the past five years. For more information, please download the PDF below.

Arthur N. Tuttle Jr. Graduate Fellowship in Health Facility Planning and Design | To open February 2018

The Tuttle Fellowship supports graduate students and emerging professionals seeking licensure, increasing their awareness of the needs and nature of healthcare facilities, attracting talented young architects and students to the field and advancing the knowledge of planning and design for healthcare environments. Awards are typically from $2,000—$10,000.

Goals
To increase architecture and healthcare students’ awareness of the special needs and nature of healthcare facilities
To attract talented young architects and students to this field
To advance the knowledge of planning and design for healthcare environments
To establish relevant research material for the profession of healthcare architecture

SLS Next Generation Scholarship | This 2017 scholarship deadline has now passed and will re-open in February 2018.

The Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH) and the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA) will sponsor two emerging professionals seeking licensure to attend the Summer Leadership Summit (SLS). The SLS is an annual gathering in Chicago of approximately 175 leaders in healthcare design from the U.S. and around the world. Attendees convene for two days of presentations and panel discussions that address the future of healthcare from the government, healthcare organization and design community perspectives. The SLS will be held at the Radisson Blu Aqua Chicago on July 21-23, 2017.

Each selected recipient will receive up to a $1,000 reimbursement to cover air travel, hotel room costs, and incidentals. Registration for the summit and tour fees will be complimentary. Scholarship candidates electronically submit application materials. See below for more details.
